Membership includes eight Chapel Hill residents appointed by the Town Council <br />and one at- large Orange County resident appointed by the County Board of <br />Commissioners. The Board meets on the second Monday of the month at 5:15 p.m. <br />Duties and responsibilities of the Library Board of Trustees include the following: <br />(a) Advise the Chapel Hill Town Council, Town Manager, and Library Director <br />concerning all matters relating to the operation of a public library system for the town, <br />taking into consideration the needs and attitudes of library users and staff. <br />(b) Advise the Chapel Hill Town Council, Town Manager, and Library Director as to <br />the use and daily operation of library services and facilities. <br />(c) Work cooperatively with the friends of the library in support of the library. <br />(d) Make recommendations to the Town Council concerning the construction <br />and improvement of buildings and other structures for the library system. <br />(e) Advise the Chapel Hill Town Council, Town Manager, and Library Director <br />concerning the annual budget of the library system. <br />(f) Monitor gift and memorial donations and endowments of the library, and advise <br />the council on the expenditure of these funds. <br />
