YES _ NO _x_ <br /> DEPARTMENT ON AGING <br /> -------------------------------- ------------------------------------ <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM JONES <br /> RFP TABULATION EXT: 2650 <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER: <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To consider awarding an RFP for providing In-Home Aide <br /> services to caregivers of Orange County elderly citizens . <br /> BACKGROUND: Funds have been allocated in the 1996-97 budget for providing <br /> In-Home Aide services to elderly citizens in Orange County. <br /> In-Home Aide services are delivered by an independent con- <br /> tractor who provides assistance with activities of daily <br /> living to Orange County residents of any age who are caring for <br /> someone sixty year and over. The target population is <br /> households whose income is at or below 200% of the poverty <br /> level. All recipients are encouraged to donate toward the cost <br /> of the service. A waiting list is maintained for those requests <br /> received after the program allocation is exhausted. Orange <br /> County will provide approximately 1950 hours of service in <br /> Levels I, II and III in the upcoming year. Level I entails <br /> providing help with household chores. Level II adds some <br /> personal care as well as providing help with household chores . <br /> Level III is the same as Level II with more extensive personal <br /> care. The Eldercare Specialists conduct extensive in-home <br /> assessments in order to determine eligibility for the service. <br /> The service is limited to 120 hours per household per fiscal <br /> year in order to provide assistance to more individuals. <br />
