1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY Attachment A <br />c opy BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: September 17, 2013 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 7 -b <br />SUBJECT: Whitted Meeting Room Schematic Design Review <br />DEPARTMENT: Asset Management Services PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Schematic Floor Plans Jeff Thompson, (919) 245 -2658 <br />PURPOSE: To continue review and comment on the schematic design of the Whitted <br />Permanent meeting room initially presented during the September 12, 2013 work session, and <br />authorize staff and the consultant to move forward with construction document preparation. <br />BACKGROUND: On April 4, 2013, the BOCC authorized Orange County to move forward with <br />the design of permanent Board meeting facilities within the Whitted 2nd Floor "A" building in <br />Hillsborough, and included this capital project within the adopted Capital Investment Plan in FY <br />2013 -14. <br />On June 18, 2013, the BOCC authorized the Manager to move forward with the design, award a <br />bid, and complete the necessary site work for this project as "Phase 1" in order that the work be <br />completed this fall during optimal outdoor weather. This site work, which will include significant <br />paving, stormwater management, lighting, pedestrian access, handicapped access, and <br />landscaping improvements, is currently out to bid and should be complete no later than the end <br />of November 2013. <br />The County has engaged Corley, Redfoot Architects as the designer for the project. Ken <br />Redfoot and David Taylor with Corley, Redfoot Architects will continue presenting the schematic <br />designs as well as corresponding three dimensional space modeling for additional BOCC <br />review and comment introduced during the September 12, 2013 work session. <br />
