Enthusiasm for poetry has soared following this year's successful residency with the <br /> poetry troupe(residency funded by the Orange County Arts Commission). The new poetry club would like <br /> to host a workshop three times this fall and three times this spring. Club and workshops will be available <br /> to all interested students. <br /> 4.Budget Sheet(Attached) <br /> Arts Program Application Narrative: <br /> School Profile <br /> Cedar Ridge High School is one of two high schools in the Orange County School System. It is located just <br /> south of downtown Hillsborough off of Orange Grove Road. There are 1084 students and 68 teachers. <br /> The ethnic make-up includes 70916 Caucasian,17%afro-American,11%Hispanic,<1%Asian and 2%Multi- <br /> cultural. Twenty percent are enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program. <br /> School Arts Programs <br /> At Cedar Ridge High School,cultural arts are promoted and revered. Students are offered electives and <br /> opportunities in band,chorus,theatre,improvisational comedy,visual arts,graphics,woodworking,and <br /> videography. <br /> Proposed Uses of Grant Funds <br /> The Sacrificial Poets is an award winning poetry organization that serves middle,high school and college <br /> aged youth in the Triangle Are of North Carolina. The Sac Poe's YouTh ink curriculum promotes creativity <br /> by enhancing emotional literacy,facilitating identity exploration, refining writing and analytical skills, <br />
