Felix Pitre - Biography <br /> Felix Pitre,born in Catano, Puerto Rico, has lived in the United States since the age of two. <br /> Raised in New York City, he attended The New York City High School For The Performing Arts <br /> and Hofstra University. As an actor he has worked in every medium including television, film, <br /> theatre and commercials. He has performed his bilingual program, Stories and Songs of Latin <br /> America(1974)throughout the United States including Washington's Kennedy Center and The <br /> Smithsonian's Discovery Theatre. He returned to the Smithsonian in 1993 with a commissioned <br /> piece, From Jibaros to Juan Bobo, Folk Tales of Puerto Rico. Other programs include, The <br /> Caribbean and Columbus, More to the Story, a look at the discovery from a native Puerto Rican's <br /> point of view, Animal Tales, learning lessons from humorous animal stories and songs while <br /> exploring our need to care for wildlife and the environment and Mexican Legends and Songs, <br /> exploring Mexico through stories, customs and old favorites like, "Cielito Lindo" and "La <br /> Cucaracha." <br /> His picture books, Juan Bobo and the Pig, and Paco and the Witch, (both illustrated by Christy <br /> Hale)were published by Lodestar Books, Penguin USA, 1993 and 1995 with a Spanish <br /> translation of the latter, Paco y la Bruja, (Osvaldo Blanco.)He also has contributed articles to La <br /> Nueva Hola, a national newsletter for The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors and is featured <br /> in the anthology, Tales Once Told(Scholastic.) <br /> Mr. Pitre has also conducted workshops for students and teachers on Latin American culture, <br /> storytelling and writing including an annual appearance as guest lecturer at Long Island <br /> University's Summer Institute for teachers and for the Education Department of The Kennedy <br /> Center. <br /> His hobbies include reading, golf and an occasional discussion with his philosopher friend <br /> Santiago. He currently resides with his family in Putnam County, New York. <br />
