1
25
SUPPORT SERVICES PLAN
CAROLINA SPRING will provide a variety of SUPPORT SERVICES specifically programmed
TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE for its elderly residents and specifically made available
AT THE SITE and AT NO COST to its elderly residents.
These support services are intended to improve each resident's PHYSICAL, MEDICAL, and
FINANCIAL well-being, regardless of age.
PHYSICAL FITNESS:
The Carolina Spring residents will not only have an indoor exercise room and outdoor
fitness equipment and walking circuit to facilitate individual exercise, included in the
project design and budget; but, will also be provided with weekly group exercise classes
focusing on mobility, stretching, and flexing, taught by exercise instructors specializing in
elderly fitness, and provided AT Carolina Spring by the Wellness Center staff at an hourly
cost to Carolina Spring and at NO cost to the residents. While all residents will be
encouraged to attend these group exercise classes, offered twice a week for one half hour
per class, it is our experience that about one half of the residents will probably attend
occasionally, and a smaller "hard core" group will attend regularly. A copy of the Wellness
Center's letter to provide these exercise classes is attached.
MEDICAL FITNESS:
The Wellness Center will also be provider of weekly health services, on a regularly-
scheduled day each week for a two hour "drop in" clinic conducted by a Registered Nurse
trained in gerontological medicine, who will provide any interested senior resident with
health assessment and referral for particular symptoms, blood pressure screening, periodic
immunizations, etc. This weekly health clinic will be provided AT Carolina Spring in a
specially designated and private screening room at an hourly cost to Carolina Spring and at
NO cost to the residents. It is our experience that nearly all residents will use these health
services as needed. A copy of the Wellness Center's letter to provide these health
services is attached.
FINANCIAL FITNESS:
Carolina Spring will provide monthly presentations on financial issues pertinent to senior
citizens. The hour long presentations will cover topics such as household budgeting, debt
management, estate planning, income tax preparation, investing, etc., and will "re-cycle"
each year to educate new residents and update continuing residents. These financial
education services will be provided AT Carolina Spring by the Edward D. Jones Company,
a respected financial services firm, at a monthly cost to Carolina Spring and at NO cost to
the residents. All residents will be encouraged to attend presentations pertinent to their
situations. A copy of the Edward D. Jones Company letter to provide these financial
fitness services is attached.
