APPROVED 9/5/2013 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> JOINT MEETING <br /> April 25, 2013 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a joint session with the Chapel <br /> Hill—Carrboro Board of Education and the Orange County Board of Education on Thursday, <br /> April 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the DSS offices in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs and Commissioners Alice M. <br /> Gordon, Mark Dorosin, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price, Earl McKee, and Penny Rich <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Annette Moore <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Frank Clifton, Assistant County Managers <br /> Clarence Grier and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff members will be <br /> identified appropriately below) <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Donna Coffey <br /> and Board Members Tony McKnight and Debbie Piscitelli. Superintendent Patrick Rhodes <br /> was also present. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: Steve Halkiotis, Anne <br /> Medenbleck, Lawrence Sanders, and Brenda Stephens <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS <br /> PRESENT: Chair Michelle Brownstein, Mia Burroughs, and Board Members James Barrett, <br /> Jamezetta Bedford, Gregory McElveen, Michelle Brownstein, and Mike Kelly. Superintendent <br /> Tom Forcella was also present. <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> Annetta Streater. <br /> Chair Jacobs reviewed information at their places. He said a decision had been made, <br /> at the school collaboration meeting, to add a draft resolution on Pre-K, which will be addressed <br /> when they get to that item. <br /> Chair Jacobs said he appreciated that the boards can meet together like this twice a <br /> year and he appreciates the amicable relationships. He feels that these relationships are <br /> important in banding together against the onslaught on public education in North Carolina and <br /> the United States. <br /> 1.
