Employee Appreciation and Wellness Lunch — May 2013 <br />Over 270 employees attended and approximately 190 participated in activities such as <br />yoga, bean bag toss, bocce ball, disc golf, recipe sharing and others. Orange County <br />SportsPlex representatives taught a Zumba and stretch band mini -class and <br />United Healthcare representatives, Emergency Services, smoking cessation coaches <br />and other health related activities were available. 775 lunches were served to <br />employees eating in and dining out. <br />5. In Tune Stress Management Challenge <br />Over 90 employees participated in a stress management challenge in June /July 2013. <br />6. National Nutrition Month Activities and Challenges <br />The Health Department took the lead in arranging exercise classes and a health <br />challenge during March 2013. <br />7. Nutritional Counseling <br />The County Health Department continues to publicize its nutritional counseling and <br />diabetes self- management program to employees. Employees can use funds from <br />either their Health Savings Account or Medical Spending Account for these services. <br />8. Cubicle Crunch "Flash Mob" and Friday Dance Day <br />Employees throughout the County completed a stretch or dance routine on a designated <br />Friday morning in June and July. <br />9. Smoking Cessation Opportunities <br />As part of the Smoke Free Orange County regulations implemented in January 2013, <br />the Health Department arranged a number of smoking cessation opportunities. <br />10. Mini - Grants <br />As part of FY 2013 -14 budget, mini - grants were available to groups of employees <br />participating in healthy activities. Four grants have been submitted as of August 15, two <br />for County Co -Ed Rec softball teams, and one to provide lunches at employee smoking <br />cessation classes; and a third to encourage Department on Aging employees to become <br />more active. <br />ow <br />
