26 <br /> 1 Commissioner Rich said there is an update coming from the Rogers Road meeting. <br /> 2 She would like to see a work session set up to discuss this in more detail after the final report <br /> 3 comes in September. <br /> 4 Commissioner McKee said the Walnut Grove Convenience Center has been open for a <br /> 5 couple of weeks, and he has had positive feedback. He said people are pleased with the traffic <br /> 6 flow and the setup. He said he will check to see about the shade areas for staff. <br /> 7 Commissioner porosin asked about the comment letter regarding drug testing <br /> 8 requirements for benefits. He said that if there is still consensus from the board, he would love <br /> 9 to see this happen. <br /> 10 Chair Jacobs said there is no consensus; but there is a majority, and he can draft a <br /> 11 letter, or a resolution can be added to the next meeting. <br /> 12 Commissioner Price said she has seen emails about the Research Triangle Regional <br /> 13 Partnership, and at one point, the General Assembly was going to re-district the state. If this <br /> 14 had been done, Orange County would have been with Greensboro, but this has not happened <br /> 15 at this point. <br /> 16 Chair Jacobs said there was a report completed on the TTA staff ineeting. He said <br /> 17 there is also a report on the meeting with the manager and Mayor of Durham, which was a <br /> 18 productive meeting. <br /> 19 He said there was an event in Efland last week to finish and dedicate one sewer line and <br /> 20 to break ground for a second line. This was well attended. <br /> 21 He said that there was discussion at the agenda review, regarding the resolution on <br /> 22 bringing home money from Afghanistan. He said this is an incredibly dense motion and it was <br /> 23 decided that it should be brought back before the board for review. <br /> 24 Commissioner Rich requested a copy of this item. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 13. Closed Session <br /> 34 <br /> 35 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> 36 adjourn into closed session at 10:56 PM for the purposes below: <br /> 37 <br /> 38 "To discuss the County's position and to instruct the County Manager and County Attorney on <br /> 39 the negotiating position regarding the terms of a contract to purchase real property," NCGS § <br /> 40 143-318.11(a)(5). <br /> 41 <br /> 42 "To discuss and take action regarding plans to protect public safety as it relates to existing or <br /> 43 potential terrorist activity and to receive briefings by staff inembers, legal counsel, or law <br /> 44 enforcement or emergency service officials concerning actions taken or to be taken to respond <br /> 45 to such activity." [N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(9)] <br /> 46 <br /> 47 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 48 <br /> 49 A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> 50 reconvene into regular session at 11:45pm. <br />
