8 <br /> 1 • The Director of Public Affairs sought direction and approval from the County Manager to <br /> 2 pursue having an official logo designed for the County to aid in helping the public <br /> 3 become more familiar with the County and its daily operations. <br /> 4 • Currently, a variety of logos are in use by several County departments. The approval of <br /> 5 these logos was done on the administrative level by the Department Directors as <br /> 6 opposed to submitting this for review and approval by the Board of County <br /> 7 Commissioners. Here are examples of these logos. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 County Department Logos (image) <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Orange County Logo (image) <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Logo Design Process <br /> 14 • The Public Affairs Department contracted with a local graphic design firm to produce the <br /> 15 logo, which cost $1,600. <br /> 16 • The design concept is based on the direction and overall vision explained by the <br /> 17 Director of Public Affairs. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Logo Design Concept <br /> 20 • The basis for the County logo design is a clean simplistic approach, using text as <br /> 21 opposed to a series of intricate details or artwork. <br /> 22 • The colors, burgundy and sage green, offer a subtle yet striking contrast. Lastly, the <br /> 23 design places the emphasis on Orange County—while including the reference to North <br /> 24 Carolina as a way to distinguish us from the other Orange Counties in the United States. <br /> 25 • The County logo will NOT replace the County seal, but rather, it will be used to launch <br /> 26 and solidify the County's brand marketing efforts—starting with the new County <br /> 27 portfolios and marketing folders. <br /> 28 • The logo is to be phased in gradually and will be visible on a variety of items, such as <br /> 29 County letterhead, envelopes, business cards, press releases, collateral materials, <br /> 30 promotional items, etc. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Six Month Review <br /> 33 <br /> 34 The following marketing materials have been developed since the Director of Public Affairs <br /> 35 started on September 17, 2012. <br /> 36 • Brochures <br /> 37 • Post Cards <br /> 38 • Posters <br /> 39 • Banners <br /> 40 • Magnets <br /> 41 • Business Cards <br /> 42 • Marketing Folders <br /> 43 • Video Productions <br /> 44 • Marketing Packet & Web site- Community Giving Fund <br /> 45 • Professional Photos and Bios of Department Directors <br /> 46 • Press Releases (100+ to date) <br /> 47 • Fabric Table Covers w/ Logo <br /> 48 • Invitations (Printed and Electronic) <br /> 49 <br />
