112 PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT ORDINANCE: Zoning Ordinance REFERENCE: Article 22 Definitions ORIGIN OF AMENDMENT: X Staff Planning Board X BOCC Public Other: Expected Public Hearing Date: November 24, 1997 Purpose of Amendment: The proposed change below is intended to promote greater consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and the Subdivision Regulation definitions. Background: This amendment is needed because of the proposed changes to Section 2.6 - TRANSPORTATION of the Comprehensive Plan. Existing and proposed ordinance text: (strike through text to be deleted and underlined text to be inserted) Street-A way for vehicular traffic whether designated as a street,highway,thoroughfare, parkway, throughway, freeway,road,avenue, boulevard, lane,place or however otherwise designated. Street,Alley-Alley is a miner.local way used primarily for vehicular access to the rear or side of properties otherwise abutting a street at the front, and which is not intended for general circulation. Street,Arterial- , A street connecting widely separated areas and desired to cam a large volume of traffic which may be fast heavy or both Arterial streets are sometimes referred to as "major thorougWares". "freeways" "expressways" etc., and are usually numbered State or Federal Highways. Street,Collector- , A street which carries traffic from minor streets to the major systems of arterial streets including the principal entrance streets of residential developments Collector streets may also be referred to as "connector" or"feeder" streets.
