Rob Maddrey
Senior Director of Statewide Development
North Carolina Symphony
Rob Maddrey has been the Senior Director of Statewide Development for the North Carolina
Symphony for over 12 years. He provides leadership to the staff on statewide planning, projects
and initiatives, and guides volunteer board members of the local Symphony chapters in
fundraising and marketing to present the orchestra in town across North Carolina.
Prior to coming to the North Carolina Symphony, he was the Director of Communications for
Preservation North Carolina, a statewide organization which preserves and protects historic
properties important to the heritage of North Carolina. For eleven years he was the Executive
Director of Arts North Carolina, the state's advocacy and service organization for the arts. He
now serves on that board of directors.
He started singing in his church choir in the first grade; he began playing trumpet in fifth grade
and continued to play in band through high school. Today he is an avid choral musician,
currently in his 17th season with the North Carolina Master Chorale Chamber Choir, and is past
president of the Chorale's board. A Winston-Salem native, he graduated from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts in economics.
Revised spring 2013
