Carrboro Film Festival Narrative
Organizational Profile: The Carrboro Film Festival's mission is to promote
creativity, expression and storytelling through filmmaking. By reaching out to
Orange County residents and fostering their myriad talents, the Carrboro Film
Festival presents an avenue for true community and the arts.
This year's festival setting brings together the films, filmmakers and the audience
to enjoy the works made by the people who make up this creatively rich area.
The festival accepts all genres of short films, (20 minutes or less), drama,
comedy, action, romantic, documentary, musical, foreign language or other. Our
two categories are narrative and documentary.
It is our sincere goal to provide the means for beginning and professional
filmmakers alike to get out and create a story using all the methods film
production provides.
The Carrboro Film Festival provided the opportunity for diverse film/video makers
from within our community to share their films/videos with the rest of the
community and with their peers.
Current Programs and Services: The Carrboro Film Festival Committee, along
with other film-focused individuals, is in the process of organizing the 8th Annual
Carrboro Film Festival. This festival is a celebration of the film and video
creativity we have right here in Orange County. It will become another way of
involving the entire Orange County Community.
To wit, last year the Carrboro Film Festival had wonderful press coverage. We
enjoyed articles & features in: The Chapel Hill News, Durham Herald Sun,
Carrboro Commons, Carrboro Free Press and the Carrboro Citizen. We were
interviewed also on WCHL &WCOM. We had our CFF on air promos on The
Peoples Channel.
The CFF is dedicated to increasing awareness of the arts in our community, to
provide venues for established and emerging artists, to showcase their talents,
and to increase the money-making capabilities of our arts community.
Any filmmaker, from beginner to professional, is welcome to submit a film, 20
minutes in length or less. In order to make this a true community effort there will
be three categories for entrants: student (k-12), college, and standard. The
competition will be open to anyone who lives, works, studies or plays in North
Carolina. The emphasis of the Film Festival committee will be in two areas:
