The ArtsCenter's 2013-2014 School Show Series <br /> SEPTEMBER: <br /> Sept. 9-10: in-school shows by Bright Star Touring Theater <br /> Professor Parsnip's Lab of Healthy Choices (PreK-5th): Wacky Professor Parsnip takes your young <br /> audience on an adventure through science, teaching how to make good choices in diet, exercise <br /> and environment along the way. Exciting science experiments from the lab of Professor Parsnip <br /> reinforce healthy habits and good character traits. Interactive and fun — make this science show <br /> a must-see! <br /> American Giants of Science (3rd-5th): Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Benjamin Franklin, <br /> Steve Jobs and more all make their appearance in this celebration of American scientists and <br /> inventors. In a whirlwind tour through time, your young audience meets some of America's <br /> most famous inventors. The best part is the audience interaction in this show,which features <br /> audience volunteers on-stage— helping to fly Ben Franklin's kite, work with Alexander Graham <br /> Bell on placing a phone call and so much more. This rollicking educational adventure is laugh out <br /> loud funny. <br /> OCTOBER: <br /> Oct. 7-10: in-school shows by Project Trio (K-8th) <br /> PROJECT Trio in-school concerts can be offered as a 30-minute experience or a 50-minute <br /> show. The content is specialized for the particular grades in the audience. The focus of the show <br /> is on the music and the performers. The concert is a high octane chamber music experience <br /> that is both aurally and visually stimulating. PROJECT Trio takes the students on a journey <br /> through multiple genres and styles of music, including classical, jazz, rock, salsa, hip-hop, and our <br /> own unique original music. The concert features famous composers like Tchaikovsky, Mingus, <br /> Prokofiev, Brubeck, and Beethoven. Expect full audience participation and a beatbox tutorial that <br /> will have every kid (and teacher) beatboxing for the rest of the year! <br /> Oct. 24-25: in-school shows by NC Shakespeare To Go (4th-8th) <br /> Hamlet (60-min) (for middle/high-school grades) OR Comedy of Errors (45-min) (for 3rd-8th <br /> grades): Designed as an exciting, high-energy, interactive introduction to the most well-known <br /> works of Shakespeare, Shakespeare To Go brings a team of actors to schools, performing edited <br /> versions of entire plays. Shakespeare To Go provides performance experiences of Shakespeare's <br /> world and work, created especially for students. Through modern versions of these plays, <br /> students will learn that Shakespeare is accessible and fun, making his work more relatable to <br /> them as they reach middle and high school. <br /> NOVEMBER: <br /> Nov. 6-8: in-school shows by Felix Pitre (Stories & Songs of Latin America and Animal Tales ) <br /> Thursday Nov. 7: Stories & Songs of Latin America -- School Shows at The ArtsCenter <br /> STORIES & SONGS OF LATIN AMERICA (K-5th): In this interactive program, Felix Pitre shares <br /> many of the Hispanic traditions that were passed down to him from his own family, bringing to <br /> life the culture of Latin America with puppetry, stories, songs, instruments and dance. <br />
