The.ArtsCenter <br /> Arts In Education Focus School Program <br /> radio drama, acting for the camera, and improvisation. Combined, The ArtsCenter's <br /> youth programs reach approximately 26,000 children in up to five counties. <br /> Theatre. International theatre at its most local, ArtsCenter Stage showcases the work of <br /> emerging and established artists hailing from next door to around the world. ArtsCenter <br /> Stage features new works with an historical perspective, while its second-stage series <br /> includes improvisation and storytelling, musicals and operas, stand-up comedy and film <br /> screenings, new works in development and theatre for younger and older audiences. <br /> ArtsCenter Stage is community-oriented theatre with a commitment to developing new <br /> artists and audiences. <br /> Concerts. The ArtsCenter presents some 60 concerts for adults each year, representing <br /> the spectrum of musical genres by local, emerging, and nationally touring artists <br /> including folk, blues, Celtic, rock, singer-songwriter, Louisiana French, old-time, and <br /> bluegrass. <br /> Gallery. The Nicholson Gallery features the work of local and regional artists on a <br /> rotating basis. The Gallery exhibitions highlight the work of more than 100 local and <br /> regional artists in 12 exhibitions a year. <br /> Proposed Uses of Grant Funds <br /> In the 2013-2014 school year, The ArtsCenter will again partner with Orange County <br /> Schools to offer curriculum-integrated art residencies (correlated directly with the North <br /> Carolina Common Core and Essential Standards curriculum) to all grade levels in all <br /> three Title 1 elementary schools in the district, serving more than 1,300 underserved <br /> children in the county. This partnership is part of The ArtsCenter's focus school program, <br /> which takes place over the course of several years and ultimately helps incorporate arts <br /> integration into a school environment as a whole. This structure ultimately ensures the <br /> sustainability of using the arts to teach curriculum over the long term. The ArtsCenter <br /> has implemented this program at Central Elementary, in Hillsborough, for the past five <br /> years.
