The ArtsCenter , <br /> Arts In Education Focus School Program <br /> 2013-2014 Arts Program Grant— Spring <br /> Orange County Arts Commission <br /> Application Narrative (#5) <br /> Organizational Profile <br /> Over the course of its thirty-eight year history, The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC has <br /> grown from a single painting class into a vibrant and dynamic multi-purpose, multi- <br /> disciplinary, grass roots community arts center serving more than 84,000 persons of all <br /> ages and walks of life. Constituents come mostly from Orange County and four <br /> surrounding counties in North Carolina, although audience members travel from <br /> throughout North Carolina and even from other states to attend specific music and <br /> theater performances presented during the year in the 355 seat Earl and Rhoda Wynn <br /> Theater. Attendees at music and theatre come from Chapel Hill & Carrboro (39%) and <br /> Durham & Raleigh (32%). <br /> The ArtsCenter is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the <br /> Internal Revenue Code. It is governed by a board of directors which establishes policy, <br /> ensures that there are adequate financial resources for the organization to accomplish <br /> its mission, ensures that earmarked funds are managed according to the stipulation of <br /> funders, manages the organization's assets to protect its future and ensures that <br /> financial controls are in place. <br /> Mission: The ArtsCenter exists in order to inspire creativity and to enrich the lives of <br /> people of all ages. <br /> Vision: We envision a world in which people embrace the arts as a critical component of <br /> daily life. <br /> Guiding Values: Sustainability; Excellence; Accountability; and Inclusivity. <br /> Current Programs and Services <br /> The ArtsCenter is organized into five programmatic departments. <br /> ArtSchool. ArtSchool at The ArtsCenter is Orange County's most comprehensive non- <br /> profit resource for continuing education in the arts on a non-degree, community basis. <br /> The ArtSchool now offers more than 500 classes in all artistic disciplines for all <br /> experience levels and ages, awards more than 50 scholarships annually, and offers <br /> work-study opportunities. <br /> Youth Programs. The ArtsCenter has provided artistically excellent, age-appropriate <br /> and accessible arts experiences to Triangle families for more than 30 years. Currently, <br /> The ArtsCenter offers the 90-event School Show Series, the SuperFun Series for family <br /> audiences, ArtsCamp in the summer, AfterSchool Arts Immersion and Arts In Education <br /> during the school day to area youth and families.
