Attachment B-1
Employee Progression In The Salary Range
From Step 1 To Years Required* Total Percentage
Change in Salary
Step 2D 4 5%
Step 3D 8 10%
Step 5D 16 22%
(End of Hiring Range)
Step 7A 21 29%
(Middle of Salary Range)
Step 11B 38 59%
(End of Salary Range)
*If work performance is effective or higher
Explanation:
The above chart shows the rate at which an employee may progress from one step to a
higher step within the same salary range under the current pay plan, if work performance
is effective or higher.
For example, if an employee is hired at Step 1, he or she may progress to Step 2A at the
end of the first year of employment if work performance is effective or higher. This is
about 1.25 percent above Step 1, the salary range minimum. After four years, the
employee could reach Step 2D which is five percent above the minimum. After eight
years, the employee could reach Step 3D which is 10 percent above the minimum. The
remainder of the chart shows the time required to progress to other levels within the pay
plan from Step 1, if work performance is effective or higher.
f:\e\salprog.doc
October 24, 1997
6
