The proposed use category is"Garden Center <br /> with On Premises Sales"which is proposed to be a permitted use in the zoning districts marked <br /> with an asterisk. <br /> With the increased level of homebuilding in new subdivisions which has been continuing for <br /> several years in our geographic region, there has been an increased demand for lawn and garden <br /> supplies to satisfy the needs of these new homeowners. The current Zoning Ordinance includes <br /> "Greenhouses" as a use category,and further distinguishes this use by Greenhouses with No On- <br /> Premises Sales and Greenhouses with On-Premises Sales. Although the Ordinance does a good <br /> job defining Greenhouses in this manner, it needs to go one step further to create the Garden <br /> Center use category which is primarily purchasing container grown plant material from <br /> greenhouses or nurseries and re-selling this material, along with bagged soil,mulch and the like <br /> to their clientele.
