4 MEMORANDUM TO: John Link,County Manager FROM: Mary Willis,Current Planning Supervisor DATE: October 13,1497 SUBJECT: BOCC Calendar-Elimination of First Meeting in August Copies: Marvin Collins,Planning Director The purpose of this memorandum is to inform you of the need for scheduling adjustments due to elimination of the first regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners in the month of August. Scheduling adjustments are needed in two areas. First, Preliminary Plan approval are time sensitive,and must be approved within 45 days of the Planning Board recommendation. Second, it has been the practice of Orangc County to approve public hearing notices at the fast meeting of the month of the hearing. The current schedule allows time for the advertisement for the August public hearing to be revised,if necessary,prior to publication in newspapers. Compliance with ordinance requirements and current practices will be maintained if: 1. Preliminary Plans reviewed by the Planning Board at its June meeting are considered by the Board of Commissioners at its June 22 regular meeting,unless the applicant agrees in writing to waive the 45-day time limit; 2. Preliminary Plans reviewed by the Planning Board at its July meeting are considered by the Board of Commissioners at its August 11 Work Session,unless the applicant.agrees in writing to waive the 45-day time limit;and 3. The advertisement for the August public hearing is approved at the August 11 work session. Since advertisement must be published on August 12,any changes must be known in advance. the advertisement could be included in a Manager's report,and communication could occur between Board members and staff to make sure that all concerns are addressed and corrections made prior to formal action by the Board of Commissioners. I am not aware of any other scheduling adjustments which will be needed. Please let me know if you have any questions.
