Link, Jr. <br /> Memorandum of Agreement TELEPHONE NUMBERS: --ext. 2300 <br /> Proposed Agenda for September 30 Meeting Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> PURPOSE: To receive a status report on the following: <br /> a) High School Construction Standards <br /> b) Memorandum of Agreement for Providing Coordinated Site and Facility Planning between <br /> County, Towns and School Systems <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> a) High School Construction Standards- <br /> The standards as attached are recommendations of the Orange County Schools High School <br /> Standards Committee. These standards were reviewed by the School Superintendents, County <br /> Manager and respective staff on Monday, September 8. These standards are presented to the <br /> governing bodies for review and instructions for next steps. The governing bodies may choose <br /> to establish a short-term task force comprised of county and school systems representatives to <br /> review and make final recommendations similar to the process used in establishing elementary <br /> and middle school construction standards. <br /> b) Memorandum of Agreement for Providing Coordinated Site and Facility Planning between <br /> County, Town and School Systems- <br /> The County Manager and School Superintendents and staff have reviewed the attached <br /> memorandum,the content of which is very similar to one adopted in Wake County. This <br /> memorandum has also been reviewed and/or commented upon by the Town Managers in Chapel <br /> Hill and Carrboro. The governing bodies may want to establish a review process. The Schools <br /> and Land Use Councils could be the entity to conduct such a review. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): Receive as reports. Please refer to the attached proposed agenda for <br /> the September 30 meeting between the BOCC and School Boards. These two reports as cited above <br /> are scheduled to be topics for that meeting. <br />
