Attachment 2 6 <br /> C7020-9/97 <br /> TELECOMMUNICATOR II <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK <br /> Performs difficult technical and clerical work on an assigned shift supervising in the <br /> absence of the Shift Supervisor and participating in the dispatching of public safety and <br /> rescue personnel and equipment usually in response to emergency situations; does related <br /> work as required. <br /> Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over shift <br /> personnel. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Receives emergency and non-emergency incoming calls, classifies calls by type; obtains <br /> detailed information including directions and relays information to EMS, law <br /> enforcement, fire,rescue or other agency; <br /> Operates radios, telephone,recording devices and computer terminals and monitors alarm <br /> systems; <br /> Provides pre-arrival medical instructions using established protocols to assist citizens <br /> prior to the arrival of emergency responders; <br /> Provides appropriate information on hazardous materials to responders; <br /> Provides guidance and direction in the emergency operations center when a major <br /> disaster occurs; <br /> Supervises the work of employees engaged in receiving and transmitting messages for <br /> emergency services in the absence of the Shift Supervisor; <br /> Trains new employees; observes performance and gives feedback on progress; <br /> Provides input to employee's evaluation; <br /> Monitors weather conditions via television and computers and notifies citizens and <br /> agencies of any watches or warnings that may be expected; <br /> Inputs data on domestic violence cases into the computer; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGE& SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> General knowledge of the methods and procedures of operating the communications <br /> system; general knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing transmission by <br /> radio and teletype; general knowledge of radio code system and teletype procedures; <br /> general knowledge of the geography of the County; ability to supervise the work of <br /> others; ability to speak distinctly; ability to deal courteously with the public under <br /> stressful conditions. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school <br /> and at least 2 years experience as a Telecommunicator I. <br /> SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> Must possess Division of Criminal Information(DCI), Emergency Medical Dispatch <br /> (EMD); Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) and Incident Command System(ICS) <br /> certifications; and have completed the Hazmat Awareness level training course. Within <br /> six months, must complete the Domestic Violence and Administrative Office of the <br /> Courts (AOC) training modules of the DCI certification. <br />
