The <br /> Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program (EDTAP) <br /> allocation for Orange County is $32, 861 . <br /> BACKGROUND: The 1997 Session of the NC General Assembly is considering <br /> the appropriation of $3, 000, 000 for FY 1997-98 for continuation of <br /> EDTAP. Also, the Department of Transportation' s 1997-98 budget <br /> contains an additional $2, 000, 000 for EDTAP. If approved by the <br /> General Assembly, these additional funds will be distributed to <br /> counties by the same state formula. A Public Hearing was held on July <br /> 22 to inform residents and human service agencies of the EDTAP grant <br /> and provide them the opportunity to discuss their need for the funds . <br /> The Orange County allocation was anticipated in the Department on <br /> Aging' s FY 98 projected revenue budget. <br /> Major program features include: 1) No local match required; 2) Funds <br /> must provide additional trips; 3) Only counties with an approved <br /> Transportation Development Plan are eligible (Orange County has one) ; <br /> 4) Funds are not to be used to purchase/lease vehicles or replace <br /> current funds, and 5) Eligibility certification is done by the County. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Manager recommends approval and Chair to sign the <br /> Certified Statement of participation in the NCDOT Elderly and Disabled <br /> Transportation Assistance Program. <br /> FN:AB70820B <br />
