2 ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENTS 1. Agricultural Service Zoning District The proposed amendment will: a) change the defnution of"Agricultural Services"; b) create a definition for"Riding Stable"; c) revise the list of uses permitted in the Agricultural Service(AS) zoning district;and d) allow agricultural service uses in the General Commercial zoning district. 2. Golf Courses Regulations and approval procedures for golf courses were adopted on May 21, 1997. The proposed amendment will: a) clarify the status of existing golf courses in relation to the new regulations; and b) establish criteria for evaluating changes to Special Use Permits approved for golf courses. HISTORIC LANDMARKS DESIGNATION PROGRAM Request by the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission to adopt a program for the designation of local historic landmarks. Local landmark designation is fundamental to implement the goals and objectives of the Historic Preservation Element of the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Department has prepared a report, Preserving the Orange Tradition: A Landmarks Designation Program for Orange County, which describes the proposed landmark designation program. NATIONAL REGISTER NOMINATION 1. Cedar Grove National Register Nomination Public hearing before the Orange County Board of Commissioners and Orange County Historic Preservation Commission(HPC)to receive citizen comment on the proposed nomination of the Cedar Grove Crossroads area to the National Register of Historic Places. After consideration of citizen comments and a recommendation by the HPC, the Board of Commissioners may make a recommendation on the proposed nomination to the NC Department of Cultural Resources. RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends approval of the attached advertisement for the August 25, 1997 quarterly public hearing.
