2 <br /> ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENTS <br /> 1. Agricultural Service Zoning District <br /> The proposed amendment will: <br /> a) change the defnution of"Agricultural Services"; <br /> b) create a definition for"Riding Stable"; <br /> c) revise the list of uses permitted in the Agricultural Service(AS) <br /> zoning district;and <br /> d) allow agricultural service uses in the General Commercial zoning <br /> district. <br /> 2. Golf Courses <br /> Regulations and approval procedures for golf courses were adopted on <br /> May 21, 1997. The proposed amendment will: <br /> a) clarify the status of existing golf courses in relation to the new <br /> regulations; and <br /> b) establish criteria for evaluating changes to Special Use Permits <br /> approved for golf courses. <br /> HISTORIC LANDMARKS DESIGNATION PROGRAM <br /> Request by the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission to adopt a <br /> program for the designation of local historic landmarks. Local landmark <br /> designation is fundamental to implement the goals and objectives of the <br /> Historic Preservation Element of the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning <br /> Department has prepared a report, Preserving the Orange Tradition: A <br /> Landmarks Designation Program for Orange County, which describes the <br /> proposed landmark designation program. <br /> NATIONAL REGISTER NOMINATION <br /> 1. Cedar Grove National Register Nomination <br /> Public hearing before the Orange County Board of Commissioners and <br /> Orange County Historic Preservation Commission(HPC)to receive <br /> citizen comment on the proposed nomination of the Cedar Grove <br /> Crossroads area to the National Register of Historic Places. After <br /> consideration of citizen comments and a recommendation by the HPC, <br /> the Board of Commissioners may make a recommendation on the <br /> proposed nomination to the NC Department of Cultural Resources. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends approval of the attached advertisement <br /> for the August 25, 1997 quarterly public hearing. <br />
