C7105-6/97 <br /> 22 <br /> EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING COORDINATOR <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs intermediate technical work in planning, coordinating, and communicating <br /> continuing education courses for basic life support, advanced life support and fire <br /> certification training. <br /> Work is performed under regular supervision. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Develops continuing education program to ensure employees and volunteer EMS and fire <br /> personnel maintain training requirements for advanced life support certification; <br /> Coordinates with community colleges and hospital to provide continuing education <br /> classes; <br /> Conducts training needs assessment; <br /> Reviews class materials and content for compliance with state requirements; <br /> Maintains personnel training records for employees and volunteers; <br /> Informs personnel on certification status and training needs for maintaining certification; <br /> Trains employees on use, handling and storage of work-related hazardous materials; <br /> Communicates with management about training needs and certification status; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGES SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> General knowledge of the Emergency Management delivery system including firefighter <br /> and paramedic certification requirements. Ability to establish and maintain effective <br /> relationships with employees,fire departments, law enforcement, community college <br /> personnel, community agencies and continuing education providers; knowledge of <br /> computer applications for organizing and maintaining records and reports; ability to <br /> ensure compliance with established rules and guidelines. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school <br /> and at least one year experience in coordinating and organizing training courses <br /> supplemented with experience in fire service or recognized emergency medical services <br /> program. <br />
