2 <br /> P R O C L A M A T I O N <br /> WHEREAS, on June 1, 1997, Americans from all backgrounds come together in their communities <br /> throughout the country to Take a Stand for Healthy Children and renew their community's commitment to <br /> improving the lives of children;and <br /> WHEREAS, on Stand for Healthy Children Day and beyond, citizens, families, religious congregations, <br /> schools,community organizations,businesses and political and cultural groups join together as a local and <br /> national community to recognize the health needs of our children and rededicate ourselves to addressing <br /> them;and <br /> WHEREAS,caring for the health of our children must be a top priority for our families,our communities <br /> and our nation;and <br /> WHEREAS, this commitment must begin at the local level, where children and families live and work, <br /> and have the potential to thrive, and where all citizens working together can make a difference in our <br /> children's lives. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, on behalf of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, I William L. Crowther, <br /> Chair, do hereby proclaim June 1, 1997 as <br /> STAND FOR HEALTHY CHILDREN DAY <br /> in Orange County, and urge all citizens to support this day by taking part in local Stand for Healthy <br /> Children activities and by dedicating ourselves to the task of improving the health and quality of life from <br /> this day forward. <br /> I hereby set my hand and cause the Great <br /> Seal of Orange County,North Carolina,to <br /> be affixed this thirtieth day of June, 1997. <br /> William L.
