Exhibit A <br /> Ref: Program Overview& Scope of Services <br /> Program Overview: <br /> The Project Coordinator will assist in the primary objectives of this project,which are to improve knowledge of safe <br /> sexual behavior and to increase in Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination rates among teens. <br /> To achieve these objectives, the Health Department will pilot a Peer Health Education Program at one high school. <br /> Teens will be trained in safe sexual behaviors and will serve as a resource and advocate for other teens in need of <br /> reliable information and connection to services. These teens will be called Peer Health Educators (PHE). The <br /> PHEs will focus on: <br /> • Increasing knowledge of STD prevention <br /> • Increasing teen HPV vaccination rates through education and vaccine promotion <br /> • Increasing knowledge of pregnancy prevention <br /> Though these teens will be trained, they will not provide counseling and information beyond their level of expertise. <br /> They will primarily serve as advocates and resources to connect teens with needed services and to provide accurate <br /> information to other teens on the risks of unsafe sexual behavior. Promoting HPV vaccinations will be a focus of <br /> the group to decrease the incidence of HPV infection and the resulting cancers. The Project Coordinator will assist <br /> Orange County Health Department staff with development and training of the Teen Health Educators. <br /> Partners <br /> The Orange County Health Department will be partnering with the Orange County Schools for this program. <br /> Other agencies will be utilized for training and assistance with promotional activities. An anticipated source for <br /> training expertise may be UNC School of Public Health. OCHD staff will involve members of its Public Health <br /> Reserve Corps (PHRC) to provide the vaccination clinics. <br /> Staffing Costs: <br /> The Project Coordinator will be paid $17 an hour, not to exceed 60 hours. The Project Coordinator will provide a <br /> bi-weekly time sheet to an agent of the Orange County Health Department. Payment will be authorized by <br /> signature of said agent, and submitted on the last Friday of the timesheet for processing. A check will be prepared <br /> and be held for receipt the following Friday. Total payment is not to exceed one thousand and twenty dollars <br /> ($1,020) unless an amendment is agreed upon by both parties. <br /> Scope of Services <br /> The Project Coordinator Advocate will participate in the following: <br /> A. Act as liaison for and assist with communication with Cedar Ridge High School principal <br /> B. Assist with the identification of interested high school students <br /> C. Act as liaison for communication with potential student leaders <br /> D. Attend Teen Health Educator Meetings <br /> E. Review and approve training curricula developed for the Teen Health Educator group <br /> F. Help to identify meeting and training dates during the school year. <br />
