Fikes
TELEPHONE NUMBERS: -- eat. 2490
Hillsborough 732-8181
Chapel Hill 968-4501
Durham 688-7331
Mebane 227-2031
PURPOSE:
To award two housing rehabilitation contract awards for the Community Development Block Grant
(CDBG) and HOME Programs respectively.
BACKGROUND:
The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from qualified housing
rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids
were received from participating contractors on June 19, 1997 and opened on the same day. Three
bids were received. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues
§ 143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Bid results are attached.
Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest
responsible bidder. Taylor Home Improvements was the lowest bidder for both jobs.
RECOMMENDATION(S):
The Manager recommends awarding the following housing rehabilitation contracts:
Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor
Stone $15,150 Taylor Home Improvements
Pendergrass $22,895 Taylor Home Improvements
