2 <br /> � r <br /> STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> COUNTY OF ORANGE <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this the 1 st day of July, 1997, by and <br /> between NORTHEN BLUE, L.L.P., Orange County, North Carolina, a partnership organized <br /> under the laws of the State of North Carolina engaging in the practice of law, hereinafter <br /> referred to as ATTORNEYS, and ORANGE COUNTY, hereinafter referred to as the <br /> COUNTY: <br /> WITNES ° ETH : <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Department of Social Services, hereinafter referred <br /> to as the DEPARTMENT, has need of special legal services, not otherwise provided by <br /> County Government agencies, in connection with its services to needy and dependent <br /> persons in Orange County, the administration of its functions under the provisions of Article <br /> 44, Chapter 7A and Article 6, Chapter 108A of the General Statutes of North Carolina and <br /> other laws of the State, and representation of the DEPARTMENT, its caseworkers and <br /> employees before the various courts and agencies of the State of North Carolina; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the COUNTY, and ATTORNEYS to enter into a <br /> contract, one with the other, for the purposes and considerations as set forth herein for a <br /> period of July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and mutual terms and <br /> agreements hereinafter set forth, the COUNTY and ATTORNEYS do contract, each with the <br /> other, as follows: <br /> g:\staff\rdd\dss\contract.dss <br />
