Passmore, ext. 2000 TELEPHONE NUMBER Hillsborough 732-8181 Chapel Hill 968-4501 Mebane 227-2031 Durham 688-7331 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PURPOSE: The purpose of this Agreement with the University of North Carolina (UNC) Hospitals for $45, 500 is to continue the Wellness Program initiated by foundation funding secured by the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center, Inc. for the past three years BACKGROUND: In 1994 the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center received funding to implement a Wellness Program at each of the Orange County Senior Centers . This three year project, funded by the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, was due to end June 30, 1997 unless alternate funding arrangements could be made. Due to the success of the Program, UNC Hospitals proposes to fund the Wellness Coordinator position through contractual agreement with Orange County. This will expand existing programs and develop and implement new programs to serve the health and wellness needs of seniors in this County. The Friends as well as the United Way will also continue to provide administrative support for this public/private partnership. RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends approval and the Chair to sign Agreement between UNC Hospitals and Orange County for the continuation of the Wellness Program.
