When all five
groups had presented then a consensus of opinion was obtained from the group. In
the fmal review of the projects and the process for the day, the following key issues
were agreed upon as the key elements of the park:
• The park should be a mixture of active and passive recreation.
• There should be a direct link between the elementary school and the community
center.
• The community center should be expanded with a gymnasium for indoor use.
• The site should have a nature study area.
• There should be an outdoor instructional area in the environmental interpretive
area.
• Softball and/or soccer should be provided with an emphasis towards younger
youth use.
• Picnic shelters and separate outdoor picnic table/grill areas need to be provided.
• There needs to be a toilet facility that is not in the community center or the
elementary school.
• Outdoor basketball is needed but it needs to relocated away from the elementary
school area.
• There needs to be a dual park access route.
• Additional parking is needed for the park to be accessible.
• There needs to be loop trails and walkways that can be measured.
• All of the available property needs to be utilized.
• The park should be partially revenue generating and provide jobs for the
community.
H:\LA\tt 360\CORRFSP\PUBLIC.WPD
Woolpert Park Master Plan Apri11997
