13
Postage: mailing out meeting notices for community and coalition meetings.
Duplicating: copying educational materials, meeting notices, and minutes.
Office Supplies: paper, pens, pencils, file folders, refreshments for meetings, and other office
supplies.
Community Project Support: provide seed money for community-based projects and ideas
such as invited speakers, workshops, and training.
Equipment: current fax machine needs replacing.
Program Support -
NC CBPH Consortium Support: These funds will be used in conjunction with similar
amounts contributed by other CBPH coalitions in North Carolina to sustain participation in the
North Carolina CBPH Consortium. Such participation provides opportunities for coalitions to
share experiences related to implementing community-based approaches to public health, to speak
with a single voice on matters of policy and dissemination of the CB PIE message, and to approach
funders as part of an initiative that is based in communities but has an impact throughout the
region. In particular, these contributions will be used to achieve the following goals for 1996-97:
1) coordinate the development of cross-county activities that address shared priorities such as
health,youth, economic development, safe communities, and leadership development;
2) advocate for the implementation of CBPH approaches among local,state, and national
representatives of the'three CBPH partners (community-based organizations, health agencies,and
academic institutions); 3) explore policy issues that have an impact on our mission;
4) provide operating support for the Consortium; and 5) facilitate Consortium-wide evaluation
processes_
The Coalition proposes that the requested funds be sent to the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill as the fiscal agent for the Consortium and then subcontracted to the Orange County
Health Department as the fiscal agent for the Orange County Coalition. Funds for the two staff
positions described above would then be subcontracted to Joint Orange-Chatham Community
Action,Inc.
6
