Attachment 2 5 <br /> C3133-5/97 <br /> GIS MAPPER II <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs difficult technical work in the preparation and maintenance of digital real <br /> property maps, street centerline maps, and tabular data records; does related work as <br /> required. <br /> Work is performed under general supervision. Provides leadership, guidance and <br /> direction to other mapping staff. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Performs advanced computer functions on the GIS which includes performing work at the <br /> command level, outside of program applications and creating custom maps; <br /> Uses GIS software and UNIX operating system to solve data management problems and <br /> correct data files; <br /> Provides workstation backup of data files; <br /> Develops GIS parcel mapping capabilities and resolves and/or troubleshoots any <br /> mapping problems that may occur; <br /> Acts as a resource for any questions or problems relating to parcel mapping using GIS; <br /> Informs County employees, realtors, and attorneys on how to use the GIS by providing <br /> group demonstrations; <br /> Serves as lead worker; <br /> Develops and updates GIS user's manual and handouts; <br /> Captures GIS data for system by using the keyboard, digitizer and mouse; <br /> Queries data record for property information using GIS software applications; <br /> Uses GIS software application to preassign PINS, data and road centerlines with <br /> associated data such as addresses; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWL.EDGES. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> Thorough knowledge of the principles,practices,techniques and equipment of GIS parcel <br /> mapping; thorough knowledge of GIS technology; ability to read and interpret property <br /> descriptions and title instruments; ability to operate computerized GIS mapping <br /> equipment; ability to prepare accurate and neat drawings; skill in the use of GIS computer <br /> hardware and software applications at the command level to do the needed data treatment <br /> beyond the application level; ability to establish and maintain effective working <br /> relationships with associates and the general public. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an <br /> accredited community college with major course work in drafting, surveying, geometry <br /> or related field and at least 3 years experience in using ARC/INFO software for parcel <br /> mapping and parcel map creation. <br /> SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> Certified senior mapper by the North Carolina Property Mapper Association and a <br /> certified mapper by the State of North Carolina. <br />
