Attachment 1 4 <br /> C3127-5/97 <br /> GIS ASSISTANT <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs responsible technical work in assigning/creating PINs and coordinating project <br /> work for the GIS. <br /> Work is performed under regular supervision. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Assign/create parcel identification numbers (PIN)to the face of land records documents; <br /> Performs basic property record editing such as mergers or splits to assign/create the PIN; <br /> Preassign documents to be recorded at a later date; <br /> Assists public, agencies, and employees from other County departments with land records <br /> questions in person or by phone; <br /> Assists the public in using the computer to review land records documents. <br /> Reviews and compares computer printouts to documents and plats to locate missing <br /> information; <br /> Reviews documents for active parcel identification numbers; <br /> Files documents in tile order and labels documents for GIS Mappers; <br /> Makes status maps of townships to keep record of updates completed; <br /> Reviews problem areas on tax maps and determine if maps are ready for GIS use or if <br /> further research is needed; <br /> Reviews computer printouts which lists map references, but fail to show deed references <br /> for ownership; <br /> Searches data on computer and documents to locate deed references according to <br /> properties plotted; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGES SKILLS AND AEIL•ITIES• <br /> General knowledge of the principles,practices,techniques and equipment of property <br /> mapping; general knowledge of GIS and its functions and capabilities; ability to read and <br /> interpret property description and title instruments; ability to establish and maintain <br /> effective working relationships with associates and the general public; <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school <br /> supplemented by at least 1 year of experience in working with parcel maintenance and <br /> land records documents. <br /> SPECIAL. REQUIREMENTS: <br /> Certified mapper by the North Carolina Property Mapper Association and a certified <br /> mapper by the State of North Carolina. <br />
