Attachment 1 4 <br /> f <br /> C2090-5/97 <br /> REVENUE TECHNICIAN I <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs difficult skilled clerical and intermediate technical work collecting,balancing and <br /> depositing revenue and taxes for the County; does related work as required. <br /> Work is performed under regular supervision. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Receives,balances and makes daily deposits of revenue received by the County and other <br /> County departments; <br /> Reconciles all accounts receivable ledgers;makes accounts receivable adjustments; <br /> Enters data into computer to appropriate account; <br /> Generates distribution reports on taxes&miscellaneous revenue for Finance Department; <br /> Generates and mails statements for beer and wine licenses; issues licenses and maintains files of <br /> licenses; <br /> Processes paperwork for garnishments,rent and bank attachments and sheriff's levies; <br /> Generates and mails mortgage company proof list; <br /> Receives and checks ad valorem tax payments in person and by mail; <br /> Participates in quarterly audit of all departments that receive revenue; <br /> Assists taxpayers,attorneys and paralegals with information; <br /> Prepares necessary reports on collection activities;records refunds; <br /> Notifies taxpayer of returned checks for nonsufficient funds by certified letter and maintains <br /> computer and paper records of returned checks; <br /> Assists with notifying taxpayer of delinquent taxes; <br /> Assists with the collection of delinquent taxes by participating in foreclosure proceedings; <br /> researching records; and using a variety of sources to contact property owners; <br /> Assists with EMS billing and collection; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGE& SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> General knowledge of accounting practices and objectives;ability to instruct office personnel in <br /> a variety of revenue collection functions;ability to plan work assignments and to organize office <br /> procedures to obtain effective and efficient office operations;ability to maintain a large volume <br /> of accounts,to prepare reports and to dispose of inquiries and complaints; ability to establish and <br /> maintain effective working relationships with other division heads,subordinates,other <br /> employees and the general public. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, <br /> supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and wordprocessing and at least 2 <br /> years experience in the banking industry,or in the collection of revenues or taxes. <br />
