The OCDAC is active in promoting <br /> opportunities for disabled citizens to work and live in an environment free of barriers imposed by <br /> architecture, attitude, and/or lack of opportunity. They provide sensitivity training and awareness to <br /> various businesses, organizations, and agencies throughout the county. Particular areas of concern <br /> focus on all aspects of community living, including social,recreation, education, employment, <br /> worship, and transportation. <br /> In addition,the OCDAC is very active in recognizing local individuals, organizations, and businesses <br /> who have increased the public's awareness of issues regarding employment and quality of life for <br /> persons with disabilities. Each year, OCDAC sponsors an annual awards ceremony to acknowledge <br /> the Employer of the Year; Disabled Citizen of the Year; Distinguished Service Award; and Media <br /> Award recipients for Orange County. <br /> Because of their dedication and commitment to serving the needs of the disabled citizens of Orange <br /> County, the OCDAC has received both state and national recognition for their efforts. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the resolution and <br /> authorize the chair to sign. <br />
