The OCDAC is active in promoting
opportunities for disabled citizens to work and live in an environment free of barriers imposed by
architecture, attitude, and/or lack of opportunity. They provide sensitivity training and awareness to
various businesses, organizations, and agencies throughout the county. Particular areas of concern
focus on all aspects of community living, including social, recreation, education, employment,
worship, and transportation.
In addition, the OCDAC is very active in recognizing local individuals, organizations, and businesses
who have increased the public's awareness of issues regarding employment and quality of life for
persons with disabilities. Each year, OCDAC sponsors an annual awards ceremony to acknowledge
the Employer of the Year; Disabled Citizen of the Year; Distinguished Service Award; and Media
Award recipients for Orange County.
Because of their dedication and commitment to serving the needs of the disabled citizens of Orange
County, the OCDAC has received both state and national recognition for their efforts.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the resolution and
authorize the chair to sign.
