Seniors: May Day Senior Event to be held on Thursday,May 1, 1997 from 9am to 1 pm. Flyers have <br /> been distributed to Durham and Orange County Senior Centers,as well as seniors at the Orange <br /> County Games. <br /> 2. Swim/Run/Bike to the Beach: Program has been put in place. We have 50 participants. <br /> Skating <br /> 1. Ice Skating Open House on Saturday,April 26 to promote lessons and get more sign-ups for summer <br /> sessions. In addition,we ran ads in the Chapel Hill News,Village Advocate and the Durham/Orange <br /> county zoned metro section of the News&Observer. <br /> 2. Rock`n' Skate Night starts Saturday,April 26 from 7:30-Midnight. Cost: $4.95 per person <br /> including skates. We are using a sound system and will have someone to play music(not requests, <br /> but a good mix of music). <br /> 3. Camps: Chapel Hi1UCarrboro Community Schools will be skating 4 times this summer. <br /> General Marketing of the SportsPlea <br /> 1. Planning to exhibit at the Chapel Hill Herald's Senior Day 97 at the University Mall,May 7. <br /> 2. 8h Grade Graduation Trips: Four schools are coming to the SportsPlex for end of year trip. They <br /> plan to swim, skate,and use in-line hockey rink. <br /> 3. Bumper Stickers are in. <br /> 4. Working on design for t-shirts to be used for Fitness Challenge. <br /> 5. Summer Camp-Placed an ad in the Hillsborough Herald. <br /> 6. Banners-Have made good progress in selling a few banners(Wal-Mart). <br /> 7. Safe Kids Program with UNC Hospitals went well. We had a front page picture in the Chapel Hill <br /> Herald. <br /> 8. Working on getting a"Shark"costume made for our mascot. <br /> 9. Churches-We have been telemarketing churches to visit the SportsPlcx. <br />
