27
Regarding the survey's inquiry as to what if any additional facilities might help serve our
group better, I would note that we believe that there are some additional
improvements/equipment that the SportPlex should consider in the future:
• Sound Pads: Although nobody expects acoustics to be a strong point in a pool area, we
do feel that placement of some "sound pads" on the walls would greatly help absorb noise
and improve acoustics in the natatorium. Furthermore, such noise reduction would
probably drastically improve the quality of the existing sound system!
• Starting Console ole Extension Cord: This piece of equipment would permit the Colorado
Starting System to be moved down to the other end of the pool (for races that only consist
of one length of the pool), while still having enough cord to reach the Colorado Timing
Console.
• Additional SW,-&rs for beneath Starting Blocks: We believe that additional speakers
were utilized beneath the starting blocks at our most recent meet in March. Some of these
speakers did not appear to work however. We would like to see the SportsPlex eventually
acquire enough speakers that a speaker that could be placed beneath each starting block.
• Starting Blocks for the Bulkhead: This is a long term suggestion, not something that
needs to be pursued immediately. We believe however, that it would eventually be nice if
starting blocks could be acquired for the bulkhead (for races that consist of one length of
the pool). This improvement would certainly increase the range of meets that could be
hosted at the SportsPlex.
In summary, the Chapel Hill YMCA Swim Team has greatly enjoyed having the opportunity
to work in coordination with the Triangle SporsPlex. Over the past two years we have seen
many facility improvements. We believe that the SportsPlex's latest Colorado Timing System
purchases have moved the facility to the "next level," clearly establishing it as one of the
premier aquatic facilities in North Carolina. Furthermore, we believe that the present
Aquatics Staff is an outstanding asset to the facility.
Sincerely,
Robert G.
