The <br /> week of May 4 - 10, 1997 is National Disability Awareness Week and citizens are urged to recognize <br /> the efforts and accomplishments of these individuals. <br /> The Orange County Disability Awareness Council (OCDAC) is a non-profit, volunteer citizens <br /> action group dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Orange County. <br /> The OCDAC promotes opportunities to work and live in an environment free of barriers imposed by <br /> architecture, attitude, and/or lack of opportunity. The Council seeks to increase the community's <br /> understanding of issues that affect people with disabilities. <br /> Representatives from the OCDAC will present the proclamation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the proclamation and <br /> authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
