Cedar Grove exhibits elements of a historic cultural landscape, a <br /> landscape that has evolved through uses by persons whose activities and occupancies have <br /> modified the physical environment. It exemplifies an agricultural-based, tightly knit community <br /> that was self-reliant and innovative in character. Cedar Grove possesses a significant <br /> concentration, linkage, and continuity of land uses, buildings and structures, roads, and natural <br /> features that would qualify it as a National Register Rural Historic District. <br /> Orange County adheres to a comprehensive approach to protecting its historic resources. <br /> Extensive architectural and archeological inventories were completed during the last three years. <br /> In April 1996;_ the County adopted a historic preservation plan as part of its long-range <br /> Comprehensive Plan. During public meetings to gather citizen input on goals and objectives for <br /> the historic preservation plan, Cedar Grove wai consistently identified as one of the County's <br /> most treasured historic resources because of its rural character and sense of place.
