34
Vargo-Flynn asked when the next community meeting would be?
Belk replied that it would probably be in the first quarter of 1997. If consent is received from the
neighborhood, the Commission would send out a request to a list of qualified historic
preservation consultants. The consultants would then send the Commission a proposal as to how
much they could complete the work for. The Commission would then review the consultants
that responded and make a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners. The earliest that
this would be done would be the first of December. If the Board of Commissioners acted on this
recommendation in January, the Historic Preservation Commission would proceed with hiring a
consult. So the first meeting in Cedar Grove with the consultant would probably be February or
March 1997.
White stated that Cedar Grove would be the first rural crossroads district in the County. There
are two others of interest,The Oaks crossroads, and the Ray-Kenion farming area.
AGENDA ITEM#6: INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
a.
