ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT 27
• 306F REVERE ROAD
HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278
N O
v u
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMNUSSION
October 30, 1996
Dear Cedar Grove Property Owner:
We're sorry we missed you at our meeting of the Orange County Historic Preservation
Commission held last Thursday at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Several of
your neighbors were in attendance. They met the Commission members, saw a slide
presentation, and discussed issues surrounding a proposed nomination of Cedar Grove to
the National Register of Historic Places. To keep you informed, draft proceedings of last
Thursday's meeting are enclosed.
With this letter, the Historic Preservation Commission is taking a"straw vote"on the
question of listing on the National Register. On the following page, please check your
response and return it to the Planning Department by December 2, 1996. (A pre-
addressed,postage-paid envelope is provided for your convenience.) If a majority of
property owners support Cedar Grove being on the National Register of Historic Places,
we will begin the nomination process by selecting a qualified historic preservation
consultant to complete the work started by Ms. Shannon Sexton.
If you need additional information,or have questions about the National Register
materials you received earlier this month, please feel free to call our staff person,Don
Belk, at the Orange County Planning Department,732-8181, extension 2594.
Sincerely,
-A
Norma White,Chair
Orange County Historic Preservation Commission
Idb
enclosures
Attachment#5
