(The proposed contract <br /> is provided as Attachment#1). <br /> BACKGROUND: The Historic Preservation Commission, at their meeting of July 24, 1996, voted to <br /> approved a Request for Proposals to select a qualified consultant to complete the National <br /> Register nomination for the Cedar Grove crossroads area. The Board of Commissioners <br /> approved the Request for Proposals on December 17, 1996(see Attachment#2). <br /> The Request for Proposals was distributed to a list of historic preservation consultants <br /> approved by the State Historic Preservation Office. Planning Staff reviewed the three (3) <br /> RFPs received and forwarded them to the Historic Preservation Commission for review at <br /> their January 22, 1997 meeting. The HPC selected Ms. Graybeal, whom they felt would <br /> be the most qualified to conduct the Cedar Grove project. <br /> Kaye Graybeal is highly regarded in preservation circles. She has considerable experience <br /> in working in rural settings and received Preservation North Carolina's Gertrude S. <br /> Carraway Award of Merit in 1995 for her work in establishing the Oak Ridge Historic <br /> District in Guilford County.
