z 3 <br /> A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE <br /> INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE PLAN FOR ALL OF ORANGE COUNTY AND <br /> REQUESTING THAT THE GOVERNING BOARDS OF CARRBORO,CHAPEL <br /> HILL,HILLSBOROUGH AND ORANGE COUNTY ADOPT RESOLUTIONS <br /> DECLARING THIS MEETING AS A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING ON <br /> INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE PLANNING <br /> WHEREAS,the Landfill Owners Group has adopted a schedule for development of the <br /> integrated solid waste plan that includes a public hearing on the plan, and <br /> WHEREAS,the State of North Carolina General Statute GS 130A-309.09A(b)requires <br /> that each local government hold an advertised public meeting as a minimum requirement <br /> for public participation in development of the required solid waste plan, and <br /> WHEREAS,the Landfill Owners Group believes that a single public hearing at which all <br /> elected members of all governments of the owners group are present could be more <br /> effective in communicating citizens' requests than a series of separate proceedings by <br /> each government, and <br /> WHEREAS,the members of the local governments have not yet given full consideration <br /> to the elements of the integrated solid waste plan, <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Landfill Owners Group will hold a <br /> public hearing on May 22, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. on the integrated solid waste management <br /> plan. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Landfill Owners Group requests that the <br /> Carrboro Board of Alderman, Chapel Hill Town Council, Hillsborough Board and <br /> Orange County Commission adopt resolutions calling a joint public hearing on the <br /> integrated solid waste management plan for May 22, 1997, at the same time and location <br /> as the above scheduled meeting. The joint public hearing would meet the North Carolina <br /> statutory requirements for development of a solid waste plan. <br /> This the 1.2th day of Fe 2=13r-, 1997. <br />
