t s <br /> l <br /> ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> 306F REVERE ROAD <br /> HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278 <br /> t• r e <br /> v i' L•, <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT <br /> FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT <br /> for <br /> Orange Regional Landfill (Maintenance Facility) <br /> January 9, 1997 <br /> The Planning and Inspections Department received an <br /> Application for an Environmental Assessment on January 7, 1997, <br /> for a proposed 4, 000 sf Maintenance Building, Equipment Yard, and <br /> attendant septic system and drainage basins at the Orange <br /> Regional Landfill, to be built and operated by the Landfill <br /> Owners Group--a partnership of the Towns of Carrboro and Chapel <br /> Hill, and the County of Orange. The Application was found to be <br /> complete . <br /> The project is located on a 12 . 76-acre parcel known as the <br /> Johnson Tract (Tax Map MQ 7. 18 . . 27D) belonging to the Town of <br /> Chapel Hill, etal . and Orange County with an address of 306 N. <br /> Columbia Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 . The site fronts for a <br /> distance of 721 feet on the north side of Eubanks Road (SR 1727) <br /> between Rogers Road (SR 1729) to the west and Mill House Road (SR <br /> 1725) and the FSX Railway right-of-way to the east . <br /> The use of the property is proposed for a vehicle <br /> maintenance building to be constructed adjacent to the Orange <br /> Regional Landfill . A portion of the site will be used for <br /> processing yard waste and storm debris on an ongoing basis, as <br /> well as for storage for transshipment of recyclable materials <br /> such as tires and white appliances. No industrial processing or <br /> materials shredding will occur on the premises . <br />
