41 <br /> PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT <br /> ORDINANCE: ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> REFERENCE: Article 8.8 Special Uses(Re-approval of Time-Limited Special Use <br /> Permits) <br /> ORIGIN OF AMENDMENT: _X_Staff Planning Board <br /> BOCC Public <br /> Other: <br /> STAFF PRIORITY RECOMMENDATION: High_X_Middle Low <br /> Comment: <br /> PUBLIC HEARING DATE: February 24, 1997 <br /> PURPOSE OF AMENDMENT: <br /> To consider an amendment which would simplify the re-approval of Special Use Permits <br /> approved for a limited time period. <br /> IMPACTS/ISSUES: <br /> Of the 25 uses contained in the Table of Permitted Uses that may require Special Use Permit <br /> approval,only the three uses listed below are subject to time limits: <br /> 1) Temporary Use of a Residential Mobile Home(Class B)- 1 year <br /> (Allows use of a mobile home in addition to the principal residence, for care of sick or <br /> elderly family members) <br /> 2) Historic Sites-Non-residential Reuse/Mixed Use(Class A)-6 years <br /> 3) Special Events(Class B)- 1 year <br /> Currently, re-approval of time-limited Special Use Permits follows the same process as would be <br /> required if it were a new use. The approval process for Class B Special Use Permits includes a <br /> public hearing before the Board of Adjustment. The approval process for Class A Special Use <br /> Permits includes a public hearing before the Board of Commissioners and Planning Board, a <br /> meeting of the Planning Board to make its recommendation, and a meeting of the Board of <br /> Commissioners to make its decision. <br /> Four Class A Special Use Permits for the non-residential use of historic structures have been <br /> approved by the Board of Commissioners (three bed and breakfast inns and one gift shop) Two of <br />
