A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> adopt an ordinance to designate the Captain John S. Pope Farm in Cedar Grove as an <br /> Orange County Local Historic Landmark and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> b. Voluntary and Enhanced Agricultural District Designation — Multiple Farms — <br /> Green, Ward, Pope, Walters <br /> The Board considered applications from multiple landowners/farms to certify qualifying <br /> Farmland, totaling 342.21 acres, within the Cedar Grove, Cane Creek-Buckhorn, High <br /> Rock/Efland, and Caldwell Voluntary Agricultural Districts, and enroll the lands in the Orange <br /> County Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD) and the Enhanced Voluntary Agriculture District <br /> (EVAD) programs. <br /> Gail Hughes introduced the following 4 new farms into the Voluntary and Enhanced <br /> Agricultural Districts: <br /> • Christine & Allan Green <br /> Woodcrest Farm <br /> Cane Creek/Buckhorn District <br /> Raises livestock and produce/vegetable crops for sell at home store and local <br /> farmer's markets <br /> VAD =12.28 acres <br /> • Randall & Susan Ward <br /> Caldwell District <br /> Raises grass/hay crop and managed woodland/forestry. <br /> VAD = 156.8 acres <br /> • Robert Pope Jr. <br /> Cedar Grove District <br /> Raises Iambs for meat; <br /> sells to restaurants and farmer's markets <br /> EVAD = 75.39 acres <br /> Local Historic Landmark Designation <br /> • Elizabeth & Roland Walters <br /> Walters Unlimited @Carls-Beth Farm <br /> High Rock/Efland District <br /> First Orange Co. farm to enter into the VAD program in 1992= 398.41 acres <br /> Revision: 225.28 acres EVAD (3 parcels) <br /> 173.13 acres in VAD (1 parcels) <br />
