Pages 2 and 3 - Southern Triangle Fire Service District Last paragraph on page 2 (which <br /> continues to the top of page 3) - The text refers to "the area in yellow" but it is not clear where <br /> that area might be on the maps included in the agenda materials. It is also not clear why <br /> Attachment 2 is referenced at the top of page 3. <br /> The "the area in yellow" is from a previous abstract and should have been deleted. <br /> Sentence should read "The Town of Chapel Hill is better positioned and has agreed to <br /> serve the 112 homeowners located more than six (6) road miles from the nearest North <br /> Chatham Station. <br /> Second full paragraph on page 3 (which is also the last paragraph for this fire district) - The <br /> New Southern Triangle Fire Service is not the same as the New North Chatham Fire Insurance <br /> District because the latter includes the Damascus fire district. My question here is what is the <br /> status of the Damascus fire district. Is it still a fire protection district? <br /> Damascus is still a Fire Protection District <br /> Pages 3 and 4 - Greater Chapel Hill Fire Service District First paragraph - It is not clear why the <br /> following statement is made: <br /> "...the net impact for the new North Chatham Fire Insurance District is a revenue increase of <br /> $276,025 from $1,706 to $277,731." <br /> The wording should be " the net impact for the new Greater Chapel Hill Fire Service <br /> District is a revenue increase of$276,025 from $$1,706 to $277,731." <br /> Page 4 - "Listed below are actions that need to be taken before three <br /> (3) new Fire Service Districts can be created and included in the County's Fiscal Year <br /> 2013/2014 annual budget." <br /> Third bullet in the paragraph that begins with the sentence given above - This bullet is <br /> "Approval by the State Fire Marshal's Office." <br /> It was my understanding that this approval would not come until sometime in the fall, and yet <br /> the Commissioners are scheduled to approve the 2013/2014 budget in June. My <br /> understanding was that the bullet should say "Submission for approval by the State Fire <br /> Marshal's Office." Please clarify what this bullet means. <br /> The revised fire insurance district maps will be submitted to the State Fire Marshal's <br /> Office after the Board's approval on April 23, 2013. The State Fire Marshal has told staff <br /> that it will take 4 to 6 months for their office to review and approve the new maps. <br /> General Comment <br /> If I understand correctly the intent what is being proposed, the boundaries for the new South <br /> Orange fire service district and fire insurance district are the same, and the boundaries for the <br /> new Greater Chapel Hill fire service district and fire insurance district are also the same. <br /> However, it appears that the text of the agenda abstract does not always make that clear, and <br /> that therefore the text should be revised in the interest of greater clarity. <br /> (III) RECOMMENDATIONS - Pages 4 and 5 of the agenda abstract <br />
