69 <br /> Triangle Regional Project E) v l lien e lin t Sc O p lir k. <br /> Final Base Year VisSim Model Development <br /> The first step in this task will be to use the traffic forecast developed previously to develop a base-year <br /> trip table matrix for each of the simulated areas for both the AM and the PM peak hours.The trip tables <br /> will be path-based, as opposed to dynamic-routing based. In addition to this step, the trip table for the <br /> downtown Durham area will have to be augmented to include parking sinks and sources. <br /> Once all data is analyzed and all matrices are created this data will be added to the base year VisSim <br /> model.This data will include the following: <br /> 0-D matrices <br /> Speed distribution data <br /> Heavy vehicle data <br /> Speed limits <br /> Additional field data as needed <br /> Once all data is entered the individual models will be run and checked visually. This visual check will <br /> ensure that vehicles are behaving similarly to field checks and recorded data. Typically this check will <br /> examine traffic flow and queue lengths to ensure they match observed conditions. MOE data will not be <br /> collected at this time. <br /> The project team will meet with Triangle Transit during the final portion of this step to complete visual <br /> verification and make any final changes necessary. Once complete the project team will have reached <br /> the key decision point. <br /> Once visual validation has been completed and the key decision point is reached the models will be run <br /> and the MOE's will be extracted. At this point a spreadsheet based tool will be created to assist in the <br /> analysis of the output. The output will then be compared to field data. The models will then be revised <br /> and updated in an iterative manner until validation is achieved.The number of model runs necessary for <br /> validation will be determined based on the variance of output and guidelines. <br /> When validation is achieved all measures needed to reach that point will be documented. <br /> The completion of this step will yield calibrated base year micro-simulation models. <br /> Deliverables: <br /> A series of micro-simulation models for each of the areas as needed. <br /> The simulation analysis and results will be prepared. <br /> oil Maps showing the design hour traffic and measures of effectiveness. <br /> Traffic Operations Results recap. <br /> 4.12 interim Year Model Developirment <br /> Interim Year No-Build Model Development <br /> Once base year models are complete the project will look to analyze an interim year no-build condition. <br /> A copy of the base year VisSim model will be created and to it any roadway projects within the network <br /> Duorlhham-Orarm e Ill,,,ui lhit ball Transit Project p June 2013 J 44 DRAFT <br />
