That a tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest of said bonds <br />when due shall be annually levied and collected. <br />3. That a statement of the County debt has been filed with the clerk and <br />is open to public inspection. <br />4. That this order shall take effect when approved by the voters of the <br />County at an election as provided in said Act. <br />ORDER AUTHORIZING <br />$250,000 COURTHOUSE BONDS <br />BE IT ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Orange: <br />1. That, pursuant to The County Finance Act, as amended, bonds of Orange <br />County shall be issued in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $250,000 <br />for the purpose of providing funds for erecting and equipping a new courthouse <br />upon the site now owned by said County near the present courthouse. <br />2. That a tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest of said bonds <br />when due shell be annually levied and collected. <br />g. That a statement of the County debt has been filed with the clerk and <br />is open to nubllc inspection. <br />4. That this order shall take effect when approved by the voters of the <br />County at an election as provided in said Act. <br />The Board thereupon designated the County Accountant as the officer to <br />make and file with the clerk the statement of debt and assessed valuation of <br />the County as required by The County Finance Act, as amended, to be filed befor, <br />the final passage of the bond orders which were intruduced at this meeting. <br />Thereunon the County Accountant filed with the clerk, in the presence of <br />the Board, tho statement of debt and assessed valuation as so reauired. <br />Thereupon the order entitled 'Order authorizing $1,000,000 School Building <br />Bonds" was passed on first reading. <br />Thereupon the order entitled 'Order authorizing $$250,000 Courthouse Bonds" <br />was passed on first reading. <br />On motion duly made and unanimously carried the Board fixed 10 o'clock, <br />A.M. October 17, 1949, as the hour and day for the public hearing upon the fore <br />going orders, and directed the clerk to publish each of said orders, together <br />with the amended note as required by The County Finance Act, as amended, in <br />The News of Orange County not later than the tenth day before said date. <br />The following petitions for hardsurfacing roads were presented to the <br />Board: <br />Eno Township, running from St. Mary's School to Durham <br />County line, and known as the Hillsboro - Oxford Road. <br />Distance: 1.7 miles <br />Bingham Township, running from Z. P. Crawford's, on High- <br />way No. 54 to the Chatham County line, and known as the <br />Orange- Chapel Road. Length of road: 6 miles <br />Chanel Hill Township, running from Highway No. 86 to Mrs. <br />Paul Dodson's, and ]norm as the Sharpe Road. Length of <br />road: 1.4 miles. <br />E. Ei. Lynch, Clerk Superior Court appeared and stated that the salary ap- <br />propriation for clerical help in his office was not adequate. <br />Nov,, Therefore, upon motion of Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Laws, Ira A. Ward is hereby authorized to pay an additional $60.00 per <br />month for clerical help in the Clerk's office and charge same to the Emergency <br />Appropriation Salary Fund. <br />
