The South Orange Fire District Board of Directors has requested the use of $6,507 of the district's fund balance to help cover the costs of installing a fire sprinkler system in the fire station located at 301 West Main Street in Carrboro. The Carrboro Fire - Rescue Department recently received a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant for 90% of the cost, totaling $65,072, and as per the grant agreement, 10% of the cost must be covered by the department. The South Orange Fire District's current available unassigned fund balance is $60,811. This budget amendment provides for the appropriation of $6,507 from the district's fund balance for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column 3, and Attachment 3) Planning and Inspections Department 6. On December 6, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners approved an updated Interlocal Agreement for implementation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System ( NPDES) program for the Town of Hillsborough. In accordance with the agreement, the County provides services to develop and implement the Town's stormwater program in return for monetary compensation.
