<br />South Orange Fire District
<br />5. The South Orange Fire District Board of Directors has requested the use of $6,507
<br />of the district's fund balance to help cover the costs of installing a fire sprinkler
<br />system in the fire station located at 301 West Main Street in Carrboro. The Carrboro
<br />Fire - Rescue Department recently received a Federal Emergency Management
<br />Agency (FEMA) grant for 90% of the cost, totaling $65,072, and as per the grant
<br />agreement, 10% of the cost must be covered by the department. The South Orange
<br />Fire District's current available unassigned fund balance is $60,811. This budget
<br />amendment provides for the appropriation of $6,507 from the district's fund balance
<br />for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column 3, and Attachment 3)
<br />Planning and Inspections Department
<br />6. On December 6, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners approved an updated
<br />Interlocal Agreement for implementation of the National Pollutant Discharge
<br />Elimination System ( NPDES) program for the Town of Hillsborough. In accordance
<br />with the agreement, the County provides services to develop and implement the
<br />Town's stormwater program in return for monetary compensation. This budget
<br />amendment provides for the receipt of the 2nd and 3rd quarter installment payments,
<br />totaling $33,625, for the period October 1, 2012 — March 31, 2013, and amends the
<br />current NPDES Grant Project Ordinance as follows: (See Attachment 1, column 4)
